The streaming release date for Sony Pictures’ Jared Leto-led superhero movie Morbius has been revealed. Nearly two years since its underwhelming theatrical release, Morbius is finally arriving on Disney+ on March 1.
“One of Marvel’s most compelling and conflicted characters comes to the big screen as Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero Michael Morbius,” reads the synopsis. “Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. While at first it seems to be a radical success, a darkness inside him is unleashed. Will good override evil — or will Morbius succumb to his mysterious new urges?”
Who was involved in Morbius?
Morbius was directed by Daniel Espinosa (Safe House) from a script by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama based on the character created by writer Roy Thomas and artist Gil Kane in 1971. The film also starred Matt Smith as Milo, Adria Arjona as Martine Bancroft, Jared Harris as Morbius’ mentor, Tyrese Gibson as an FBI Agent, and Michael Keaton as Adrian Toomes/ Vulture. It was produced by Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, and Lucas Foster.
During its theatrical run, the film received negative reviews from critics and audiences, who turned it into an internet meme. Because of this, it only earned a gross of over $167 million at the global box office.
