We finally have a new Mickey 17 release date after it was previously undated from its prior date of March 29, 2024.
Warner Bros. announced the new Mickey 17 release date for Bong Joon-Ho’s latest movie will be January 31, 2025. It also confirmed that it will play in IMAX theaters as well. Star Robert Pattinson will be joined by Naomi Ackie, Steven Yeun, Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo.
What is Mickey 17 about?
The project will be based on Edward Ashton’s Mickey7 novel. It is being written and directed by Bong Joon-ho. Producers are Bong for Offscreen, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner for Plan B, and Dooho Choi for Kate Street Picture Company.
The Mickey7 novel centers around an Expendable, which the synopsis describes as “a disposable employee on a human expedition sent to colonize the ice world Niflheim. Whenever there’s a mission that’s too dangerous — even suicidal — the crew turns to Mickey. After one iteration dies, a new body is regenerated with most of his memories intact. After six deaths, Mickey7 understands the terms of his deal … and why it was the only colonial position unfilled when he took it.”
This marks Pattinson’s first project following the successful theatrical release of The Batman, which saw his debut as DC’s newest version of the Dark Knight. He is expected to reprise his role as the superhero in the forthcoming sequel, which was announced during CinemaCon.
