Five Nights at Freddy's PG-13 rating

Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 Production Start Date Revealed

Following Josh Hutcherson’s announcement earlier this year that a second Five Nights at Freddy’s movie is definitely in the works, the Film & Television Industry Alliance has just reported that production for the planned sequel will start on July 1 in New Orleans.

Hutcherson — who played Mike Schmidt in the film — previously revealed that the creatives behind the planned sequel are in the process of developing the story. He also revealed that they “want to get going as soon as possible.”

The announcement that Five Night at Freddy’s will get a sequel is hardly surprising given the first movie’s massive box office revenue, which made it the highest-grossing horror movie of 2023. In addition to Hutcherson, the movie starred Matthew Lillard as Steve Raglan, Elizabeth Lail as Vanessa, and Piper Rubio as Abby.

What is Five Nights at Freddy’s about?

The supernatural horror film, which is based on a video game series of the same name, follows a young, troubled security guard who is forced to work at an abandoned pizzeria called Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza in order to maintain custody of his younger sister. But working the night shift at Freddy’s will only put him in a risky and terrifying scenario that will endanger both his sister’s and his own safety.

The synopsis for Five Nights at Freddy’s reads: “Recently fired and desperate for work so that he can keep custody of his little sister, Mike agrees to take a position as a night security guard at an abandoned theme restaurant: Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria. But Mike soon discovers that nothing at Freddy’s is what it seems. Mike’s nights at Freddy’s will lead him into unexplainable encounters with the supernatural and drag him into the black heart of an unspeakable nightmare.”

Five Nights at Freddy’s is directed by Emma Tammi and written by Scott Cawthon, Emma Tammi, and Seth Cuddeback.
