The first image from Eli Roth‘s adaptation of the video game shooter Borderlands has emerged, showing the movie’s starry cast.
Borderlands Cast Emerges from the Shadows
People exclusively revealed the image, which features Cate Blanchett, Ariana Greenblatt, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kevin Hart, Florian Munteanu, and Jack Black in character looking down a manhole.
The story of the Borderlands movie sees the mysterious fugitive Lilith (Blanchett) make a homecoming to her planet Pandora to search for the missing daughter of Atlas (Edgar Ramírez).
Lilith teams up with a band of outcasts. they include Roland (Kevin Hart), anarchic teen Tiny Tina (Ariana Greenblatt), her bodyguard Krieg (Florian Munteanu), scientist Tannis (Jamie Lee Curtis), and ultra-talkative robot Claptrap (Jack Black).
The film is directed by Roth from a screenplay written by Craig Mazin (who, last year, removed his name from the film and will be credited under a pseudonym). It also stars Haley Bennett, Janina Gavankar, Gina Gershon, Cheyenne Jackson, Charles Babalola, Benjamin Byron Davis, Steven Boyer, Ryann Redmond, and Bobby Lee.
Borderlands is being produced by Arad Productions’ Avi Arad and Ari Arad, along with Picturestart’s Erik Feig. It will be executive produced by Gearbox founder Randy Pitchford and CEO of Take-Two Interactive Strauss Zelnick. Lionsgate’s James Myers and Aaron Edmonds are overseeing the project along with Arad’s Emmy Yu and Picturestart’s Lucy Kitada and Royce Reeves-Darby.
Borderlands will be released in theaters on August 9, 2024.
