Fans of Joker 2 received a Valentine’s Day present with three new images from Joker: Folie à Deux. Director Todd Phillips shared new stills from the Joker sequel featuring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga.
Joker 2 Valentine Images Show a Twisted Love
Phillips posted the images on Instagram with the message, ”Hoping your day is full of love.”
Joaquin Phoenix reprises his Academy Award-winning role of Arthur Fleck/Joker for the sequel. Lady Gaga, who plays Joker’s love interest Dr. Harleen Quinzel, better known as Harley Quinn, stars alongside Phoenix. Zazie Beetz returns as Arthur’s former neighbor, Sophie Dumond, for the sequel. Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, and Harry Lawtey have also been cast in undisclosed roles.
The film’s cinematographer Lawrence Sher said last year that Joker: Folie A Deux will be ”a big swing. It’s going to be really surprising to people. I’m so excited for everyone to see it.”
The first film, released in 2019, was a massive critical and commercial hit, grossing over $1 billion at the worldwide box office as well as being nominated for 11 Academy Awards, Joker won two of those – Best Actor for Phoenix and Best Original Score for Hildur Guðnadóttir.
Joker: Folie à Deux will be released in theaters on October 4, 2024
