Shortly after he was reported to be in talks to helm the new Jurassic World movie, it’s been revealed that David Leitch won’t be directing the upcoming installment.
According to Deadline‘s sources, Leitch’s departure from these talks was amicable, with the reason for the separation boiling down to the director and the studio having “different visions for the film.”
It seems that David Koepp is still set to write the new Jurassic World film, with the role of director now becoming one of the more coveted directing jobs in the industry. The picture will apparently launch a “new Jurassic era” featuring a story that will likely not include returning characters from previous Jurassic World or Jurassic Park movies.
Projects that Leitch had previously directed include John Wick (which he co-directed with Chad Stahelski), Atomic Blonde, Deadpool 2, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, and Bullet Train.
