Warner Bros Get the Hot Genre Ticket
Warner won the race to secure the latest collaboration between Jordan and Coogler, a pairing that has been lucrative in the past critically and commercially. Warner sees franchise potential in the original IP being created by the duo.
Filming is looking to be started this April in New Orleans.
The pair have a rich and storied history together, with Fruitvale Station, Creed, and Black Panther among the fruits of their collaborations, and this new project is based on an original idea from Coogler.
Coogler will write and direct the mystery movie with his Proximity Media company, with Jordan set to star in it.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the project is described as a genre feature. In the latest reports by THR, the project has been labeled as a period thriller (that might take place in the Jim Crow-era South) and involves the undead. Some sources of THR have even said it also contains anime influences,
Jeff Sneider of The Insneider previously corroborated the period nature of the film, and added that it was also a vampire movie.
