Neon announced that Oscar nominee Naomi Watts (The Impossible), Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead), Michael Imperioli (The Sopranos) and Tye Sheridan (Ready Player One) have joined The Housewife cast for the upcoming psychological drama, which is expected to begin its production in June 2024.
This marks Watts’ latest collaboration with Neon, after previously working together in the 2019 thriller drama Luce. She is currently starring in Ryan Murphy’s Feud Season 2, in which she plays the role of American socialite Babe Paley. Besides The Housewife, she will next be seen in Audrey Diwan’s reboot of Emmanuelle.
What is The Housewife about?
“It follows a determined young New York Times journalist (Sheridan) as he tracks down a potential Nazi officer living secretly in Queens,” reads the synopsis. “But when he befriends the suspect’s elegant and charming wife (Watts), the implications of his investigation become much more unsettling.”
Based on a true story from 1964, The Housewife will be directed by up-and-coming filmmaker Ben Shirinian from a screenplay written by Alyssa Hill. The film is produced by Kevin McKeon and Lee Broda, with Hill also set as an executive producer.
