The Stanley Hotel has been quite a tourist destination. Located in Estes Park, Colorado, it served as the inspiration for Stephen King‘s The Shining and Stanley Kubrick‘s film adaptation. Not to mention, its rumors of paranormal activity have brought the hotel exposure to paranormal investigation shows. Just when you thought The Shining-inspired hotel couldn’t be more eerie, Blumhouse Productions has decided to build an exhibition space on that very property.
The Numbers showed that Blumhouse Productions made close to $800 million at the worldwide box office in 2023. As Blumhouse has a proven record of providing horror entertainment audiences love, the Denver Post reported the M3GAN creators will be the sole curator of the 10,000-foot exhibition space located in the Stanley Film Center. Hotel owner John Cullen explained how this $400 million project ended up in Jason Blum‘s hands.
“Jason got a call from the governor and said to me, ‘I’ve filmed in 23 states, and this is the first time I’ve spoken with a governor.’ This must be a pro-business state.”
The plan is for Blumhouse to curate exhibits based on the company’s film and television filmography. In other words, it’ll be like a Blumhouse museum of the horror production company’s finest works. I can expect to see films represented there, like Get Out, Happy Death Day, Insidious, M3GAN, and more. Jason Blum said in a statement how important his deal with the Stanley Film Center was for his company and the horror genre.
“The Stanley Hotel is hallowed ground for horror fans, and that makes this presence at the Stanley Film Center a natural extension for Blumhouse.”
You can expect to see Blumhouse’s exhibition space on the grounds of The Stanley Hotel in 2026.
Blumhouse Production’s Upcoming Movies
Imaginary is when a little girl develops an attachment to an imaginary friend in the form of a stuffed animal. But after this ghastly teddy bear convinces her to commit sinister acts, it demonstrates its true evil form. Starring DeWanda Wise, this supernatural horror film hits theaters on March 8th.
Then, there’s Speak No Evil, about a holiday in a country house taking a creepy twist. Atonement’s James McAvoy stars in the psychological-horror film along with The Turning’s Mackenzie Davis and Argo’s Scoot McNairy. You can expect Speak No Evil to scare its way into theaters on September 13th.
Another Blumhouse horror film to look forward to is the modern remake of The Wolf Man. Starring It Comes At Night’s Christopher Abbott, the contemporary horror spin comes to theaters on October 25th. There are also the sequels to M3GAN and The Black Phone, both coming out next year.
