The Bear star Ayo Edebiri has departed the upcoming Marvel Studios movie Thunderbolts, with a different actress stepping in to take her place.
Deadline has reported that Edebiri has left the Marvel Cinematic Universe production due to a scheduling conflict. This is the same reason for Steven Yeun’s departure, with the film’s production having been moved back as a result of last year’s entertainment industry strikes.
The outlet also reported that The Beanie Bubble’s Geraldine Viswanathan has signed on to replace Edebiri in the film, making this the second recast ahead of filming following Lewis Pullman joining the cast last week.
The film will be directed by Jake Schreier, whose history as a director isn’t extremely extensive, having only worked on 2012’s Robot & Frank, 2015’s Paper Towns, and the 2021 filmed version of Chance the Rapper’s Magnificent Coloring World Tour.
Who else is starring in Thunderbolts?
During the Marvel Studios’ panel at D23 2022, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige unveiled the cast for the upcoming Thunderbolts movie, which will be a team consisting of mostly supervillains and antiheroes. It includes Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), Red Guardian (David Harbour), Ghost (Hannah Jon-Kamen), US Agent (Wyatt Russell), Taskmaster (Olga Kerleynko), Yelena Belova/Black Widow (Florence Pugh), and The Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan).
