LaKeith Stanfield is joining the cast of Shane Black‘s upcoming crime thriller Play Dirty, where he’ll star alongside Mark Wahlberg, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film is an adaptation of Donald E. Westlake’s Parker novels, a series of books that began with 1962’s The Hunter. The novels tell the story of career criminal Parker, a professional robber who specializes in high-profile, large-scale heists.
Stanfield will play the role of an actor-turned-con-artist
According to the report, Stanfield is set to play Grofield, a con artist that acts as the partner to Parker (Wahlberg). The pair will have to “outsmart a South American dictator, the New York mob and the world’s richest man if he hopes to stay alive,” according to a logline from the studio.
Play Dirty will be written by Black, Charles Mondry, and Anthony Bagarozzi, with Jules Day and Marc Toberoff producing.
Stanfield can currently be seen in the 2023 biblical comedy-drama The Book of Clarence, while Mark Wahlberg most recently starred in 2023’s The Family Plan for Apple TV+. Shane Black’s latest film is the 2018 The Predator.
