The MLK holiday produced solid numbers at the domestic box office, with Mean Girls topping the charts with a strong $33.2 million 4-day opening weekend ($28.65M 3-day), per Deadline. At No. 2 is David Ayer’s The Beekeeper with $16.8M 3-day/$19.2M 4-day.
Otherwise, it was more of the same. Wonka added another $10.88M to its running total of $178.69M, while Migration and Anyone But You held up well in their fourth weekends, tallying $8.3M and $8.255M over the 4-day frame.
The Book of Clarence was the only other new release this week, and the Legendary/Tri-Star pic hauled in just $2.57M 3-day/$3M 4-day.
Worldwide, Wonka zipped past the $500M mark and currently sits at $505.3M, including $329.1M from the International box office. The Beekeeper earned $20.4M from 49 offshore markets and $8.1M from Imax screens worldwide, raising its opening weekend worldwide total to $37.1M, which, per Deadline, is 23% better than the original John Wick. Mean Girls, meanwhile, earned $6.5M from 16 offshore markets. Its global total is $34.5M.
