ComingSoon is debuting an exclusive The Bleacher poster for the surreal animated short film, which is set to premiere at Sundance in the US Shorts section. The 2024 Sundance Film Festival takes place from January 18 to 28.
“The self-service laundromat, Frugal Wash attracts a colorful and often disgruntled clientele, including Rita Riat (aka The Bleacher), whose discovery of a missing sock sends her into a near nervous breakdown,” reads the short film‘s synopsis. “Convinced it’s either the work of the misfits waiting for their laundry or the broken-down machinery, Rita begins her search. Diving deep into the washing machine for a closer look, Rita is sucked into its claustrophobic confines and the depths of her subconscious. There, she meets a dolphin man trapped in a purgatory of lost socks. The bizarre ballet of seduction and revelation blurs reality for the pair, peeling back layers of Rita’s mundane life and exposing the harrowing truth behind the blood-stained sock that must be found.”

Who directed The Bleacher?
The Bleacher was directed by Adam Wilder and Nicole Daddona and was produced by Zeus Kontoyannis and Zeus Pictures. The short stars Kate Micucci, Ben Sinclair, and Sky Elobar. It has a runtime of eight minutes.
