DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has confirmed whether or not the costumes of the Green Lanterns in the new DC Universe will be CGI.
On Threads, Gunn was asked by a fan if Green Lantern Guy Gardner’s suit will be CGI in the new DCU. Infamously, Ryan Reynold’s Green Lantern suit in the 2011 film was made with CGI — a fact that was even joked about by Reynolds himself in the first Deadpool movie.
“I can’t remember ever having a CG suit unless it was on a CG character,” Gunn responded, suggesting that non-CGI characters will indeed have real costumes, just as they do in his other movies.

Nathan Fillion is set to appear as Guy Gardner in Superman: Legacy. Meanwhile, the titular role is being played by David Corenswet (Pearl, The Politician), while Lois Lane will be played by The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star Rachel Brosnahan. They’re joined by Nicholas Hoult, Skyler Gisondo, María Gabriela De Faría, Sara Sampaio, Isabela Merced, Nathan Fillion, Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, and more. The film is set to release on July 11, 2025.
How much money did Green Lantern make?
When Green Lantern launched in 2011, the film was immediately panned by both critics and audiences alike. While the film did make a profit based on its $200 million budget, the largely middling return at the box office, combined with the poor response, caused a sequel film to be canceled.
