Wonka’s Timothée Chalamet is starring in a mysterious ping-pong project.
Speaking with Josh Horowitz on a video uploaded to MTV’s YouTube page, Chalamet briefly discussed some of his upcoming projects. After mentioning the Bob Dylan biopic being directed by James Mangold, Chalamet said he’s attached to something else he “can’t really say” much about.
When asked for a hint, Chalamet said, “It’s ping-pong. I can say that.”
Horowitz further questioned if this was a Balls of Fury reboot or something of that nature, to which Chalamet said, “No, no, no, no. Something way different. Way different.”
Further details remain under wraps at this time.
What other recent movies is Timothée Chalamet starring in?
Chalamet can currently be seen in 2023’s Wonka, which opened in United States theaters on December 15, 2023. Directed by Paddington’s Paul King, the movie sees Chalamet play a younger Willy Wonka as he travels to Europe and begins to make a name for himself as a world-famous chocolatier and inventor.
The Lady Bird and Bones and All actor is also headed back to Arrakis in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two, which hits United States theaters on March 1, 2024, from Warner Bros. Pictures. Starring in Dune: Part Two with Chalamet are Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Dave Bautista, and Christopher Walken.
The aforementioned Bob Dylan biopic, titled A Complete Unknown, was initially announced in 2020. Production has been delayed several times because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Mangold’s commitment to directing 2023’s Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, and the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) strike; however Chalamet said in the interview with Horowitz that both A Complete Unknown and the ping-pong project were “in the eight-month stretch ahead.” Searchlight Pictures will distribute the film.
