George Clooney Might Return for Another Ocean’s Movie: ‘It’s Actually a Great Script’

George Clooney says there’s a “really great script” for another Ocean’s movie he might return for.

Speaking with Uproxx’s Mike Ryan, Clooney revealed that a script for a new Ocean’s movie has already been written. “We have a really good script for another Ocean’s now, so we may end up doing another one. It’s actually a great script,” he said.

When asked if this would be Ocean’s Fourteen, Clooney answered, “Well … I don’t want to call it that… I mean, the idea is kind of like Going In Style.”

An Ocean’s Eleven prequel is already in the works

It was previously announced that another Oceans movie is already in development; however, the film is an Ocean’s Eleven prequel starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling. Directed by Jay Roach, the upcoming movie is set in the 1960s and will reportedly see Gosling and Robbie play Danny (Clooney) and Debbie Ocean’s (Sandra Bullock) parents.

“Margot Robbie’s my mother? I’ve always thought that,” Clooney recently told Variety at The Boys in the Boat premiere. “And Ryan Gosling is my father, and when you think about it, it makes sense. Truly.”

The script Clooney is referring to is presumably a different movie altogether, as Going In Style is a 1979 heist film directed by Martin Brest about three senior citizens (George Burns, Art Carney, and Lee Strasberg) who decide to plan a heist. Zach Braff remade Going in Style in 2017 with Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, and Alan Arkin.

Clooney first played Danny Ocean in 2001’s Ocean’s Eleven, a remake of the 1960 film of the same name. Directed by Steven Soderbergh, Ocean’s Eleven’s ensemble cast also included Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Casey Affleck, Don Cheadle, Carl Reiner, Bernie Mac, Andy García, Julia Roberts, and more.

Two sequels, 2004’s Ocean’s Twelve and 2007’s Ocean’s Thirteen, followed, both of which were also directed by Soderbergh. In 2018, Gary Ross made a spin-off, Ocean’s 8, starring Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, Rihanna, and Helena Bonham Carter.
