Will Smith has given updates about two highly anticipated sequels that will be led by him: I Am Legend 2 and Bad Boys 4.
The Hollywood Reporter has shared a few pieces of information Smith gave about both films over the weekend. In regards to I Am Legend 2, the actor revealed he had a call with Michael B. Jordan — who’s set to costar in the sequel — and that the sequel will follow the alternate ending that was included on the DVD, which saw Smith’s character surviving instead of dying.
As for Bad Boys 4, the outlet notes that Smith described how the film is an example of how “one plus one does not always simply equal two,” and that, in this case, “1+1=10.” The actor also explained that the comedy genre is likely his best fit, but that the drama genre helps an actor grow.
“It’s a great way to make a living,” Smith stated. “When you play a drama, you grow.”
The original I Am Legend was based on the 1954 novel of the same name by Richard Matheson. It was a hit when it premiered in 2007 and opened to the largest-ever box office for a non-Christmas movie at the time and was the seventh-highest-grossing film of 2007.
Who is directing Bad Boys 4?
Bad Boys 4 is being directed by Bad Boys for Life directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah and written by Chris Bremner. The duo also directed the unreleased Batgirl movie that starred Leslie Grace and Brendan Fraser and two episodes of Marvel’s Disney+ series Ms. Marvel. Little is known about the story details.
Jerry Bruckheimer, Will Smith for Westbrook Studios, Doug Belgrad, and Chad Oman are set to produce, with Martin Lawrence, James Lassiter, Mike Stenson, Barry Waldman, and Jon Mone serving as executive producers.
