With the massive success of Blumhouse’s Five Nights at Freddy’s, it’s a great time to give the 2021 animatronic horror movie Willy’s Wonderland another shot, and to help that, it’s now getting a 4K UHD Blu-ray release.
The movie will also be released in 4K SteelBook form.
Cage Match Against Killer Animatronics
The movie stars Nicolas Cage as a monosyllabic drifter who gets tricked into cleaning up a seemingly abandoned kids’ party place, a la Chuck E. Cheese. Unfortunately, its animatronic critters have sentience, and quite like murdering anyone who sets foot in the place. But they hadn’t reckoned on Cage being a secret badass fighting machine with a penchant for pinball.
While the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie gestated, others took the opportunity to do mascot horror, and two of the more notable attempts were this film and The Banana Splits.
Willy’s Wonderland is directed by Kevin Lewis (The Accursed) and stars Nicolas Cage (Mandy), Emily Tosta (How the Gringo Stole Christmas), Beth Grant (Donnie Darko), Ric Reitz (Remember the Titans), Chris Warner (No Country for Old Men), and Jonathan Mercedes (Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3).
There are not a lot of details about what’s featured on the Willy’s Wonderland 4K UHD release, but we do know it’s currently set for February 13, 2024
