During a recent interview with Today, Oscar nominee Scarlett Johansson finally revealed the current status of her long-in-development Tower of Terror reboot with Disney. The Marvel vet confirmed that the they’re almost done with the project’s script.
“Now that the writers’ strike is all over with, we’re finally able to dive back into polishing up this script. It’s a massive, huge undertaking,” Johansson said.
Who’s involved in The Tower of Terror?
Based on one of Disney’s classic and popular theme park attractions, The Tower of Terror film will be produced by Johansson through her These Pictures banner alongside Jonathan Lia. Following the project’s announcement, it was rumored that Taika Waititi was attached to direct the live-action reboot from a screenplay written by Academy Award-winner Josh Cooley.
Johansson most recently starred in Wes Anderson’s Asteroid City. Her upcoming project is the forthcoming animated prequel Transformers One, which will reunite her with MCU co-star Chris Hemsworth. Despite denying Johansson’s rumored Black Widow return, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige recently confirmed that Johansson is still attached to produce a secret MCU project.
