Aliens, The Abyss, and More James Cameron Movie 4K Release Dates Set

Disney announced that, for the first time ever, a number of legendary director James Cameron‘s films will be made available on 4K UHD throughout the next few months. The announcement from Disney noted that several films, including Aliens, The Abyss, True Lies, both Avatar films, and more, are set to arrive in the coming months.

Up first, the Titanic 25th Anniversary Collector’s Edition is set to release on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray and at digital retailers on December 5, 2023. The special collection of the film will include the following:

  • A hardcover coffee table book detailing the making of the film’s most iconic scenes
  • A detailed schematic inspired by the actual ship blueprint, highlighting locations of key scenes
  • Movie prop reproductions of a boarding pass, launch viewing ticket, ship menus, and notes from Jack to Rose and Rose to Cal
  • Sheet music for the multi-award-winning hit “My Heart Will Go On”

Aliens, The Abyss, True Lies 4K release information

On December 12, 2023, Aliens, The Abyss, True Lies, Avatar, and Avatar: The Way of Water will all arrive in 4K Ultra HD on digital platforms, including Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango/Vudu.

The following week, on December 19, 2023, Blu-ray special editions of Avatar and Avatar: The Way of Water will be released physically. Avatar will be released in a 4K Collector’s Edition, 3D Blu-ray bundle, and also as a Limited Edition Steelbook (exclusive to Best Buy), while The Way of Water will have its own 4K Collector’s Edition.

Finally, next year on March 12, 2024, Disney will release physical 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray versions of Aliens, The Abyss, and True Lies. All three films will be released in 4K Collector’s Editions, which will include a 4K copy of the film, a Blu-ray copy of the film, and a digital code.
