Dark Sky Films has acquired the rights to political slasher Founders Day, and plans to release it early in 2024.
Founders Day Set for 2024
The movie’s successful festival run included showings at San Sebastián Horror, FrightFest, and an award-winning performance at Toronto After Dark.
Founders Day is directed by Erik & Carson Bloomquist (She Came From the Woods) and tells the tale of a contemporary murder mystery set in a small town plagued by ominous killings on the eve of its tricentennial celebration and impending mayoral election. Who is behind it? As the body count racks up, it will no doubt become clear.
“We’re very happy to be partnering with the team at Dark Sky, who know and love the power of genre cinema like we do,” said the Bloomquists of the acquisition. “As the chaos of modern politics rages, The Founder is primed and ready to be unleashed on American audiences.”
“The Bloomquist brothers have crafted a film that brilliantly captures the true talent of this stellar cast. We look forward to releasing this film to North American audiences,” said Giles Edwards of Dark Sky.
The slasher stars Devin Druid and Amy Hargreaves of 13 Reasons Why fame, Naomi Grace (NCIS), Catherine Curtin (Stranger Things), Emilia McCarthy (SkyMed), Olivia Nikkanen (The Society) and William Russ (Boy Meets World).
