Captain America: Brave New World

Captain America 4 Reportedly Getting Extensive Reshoots After Cutting Major Scenes

Captain America: Brave New World is reportedly undergoing extensive reshoots after cutting a handful of major scenes from the film.

Industry insider Jeff Sneider revealed on a new episode of The Hot Mic that, according to his sources, an early test screening of Captain America: Brave New World “did not do great.”

“Three sequences are being cut and reshoots are being planned from January until May or June [of 2024],” Sneider said.

Captain America: Brave New World was previously scheduled to release on July 26, 2024; however, with the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) strike now over, Marvel Studios has shifted a number of upcoming movie’s release dates. Deadpool 3 is now taking Captain America 4’s July 26 release date, while Brave New World has been bumped back to February 14, 2025.

What else do we know about Captain America: Brave New World?

The fourth installment in the MCU‘s Captain America film series following 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger, 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, as well as a sequel to 2021’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier miniseries, Captain America: Brave New World (formerly titled Captain America: New World Order) is directed by Julius Onah, who also co-wrote the script with Malcolm Spellman and Dylan Musson.

The film will see Anthony Mackie reprise his role as Sam Wilson, who took over as Captain America for Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) following the events of 2019’s Avengers: Endgame and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Also starring in Captain America: Brave New World are Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres/Falcon, Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley, Tim Blake Nelson as Samuel Sterns/Leader, Shira Haas as Sabra, Harrison Ford as Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, and Liv Tyler as Betty Ross.

Captain America: Brave New World releases in United States theaters on February 14, 2025, from Marvel Studios.
