Deadpool 3 will mark the introduction of Ryan Reynolds’ Wade Wilson into the MCU. Right by Reynolds’ side is Hugh Jackman, who reprises his iconic role of Wolverine from the X-Men franchise. Director Shawn Levy believes Wolverine’s inclusion in Deadpool 3 will keep the franchise’s DNA while helping it evolve.
“Once we knew it was a Wolverine-Deadpool movie, my God, what a gift to any storyteller,” Levy told Josh Horowitz on an episode of Happy Sad Confused. “Not only do you have two icon actors playing their most iconic roles, but you have two characters whose dynamic is already famously fraught. And anytime you’re dealing with characters who start from a place of deep dislike and conflict and difference from each other . . . what a great formula for storytelling.”
Levy went on to say that Deadpool 3 has more “character, depth, and heart” than people are expecting.
