According to Deadline, Oscar winner Halle Berry has signed on for the leading role in the upcoming psychological thriller titled The Process.
Berry will be playing the role of Kirsa, a woman who suddenly finds herself fighting to “preserver her marriage and her sanity” against a cult leader’s manipulative words. Her casting was actually finalized prior to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike. In addition to starring, the X-Men vet will also be serving as a producer along with Holly Jeter under their HalleyHolly banner.
“It follows a seemingly happily married couple, who attend the weekend seminar of Aiden, a renowned self-help guru, and are asked to examine their individual lives, careers, and ultimately their marriage, but when Kirsa resists Aiden’s “process” and his cult of committed volunteers, and Peter buys in, their relationship and sanity are quickly put to the test,” reads the synopsis.
Who’s involved in The Process?
The Process will be directed by Tara Miele from a screenplay written by Levin Menekse. It will also be produced by Pioneer Pictures’ Robert Kravis and Karl Herrmann, along with Julia Sandberg Hansson. FilmNation Entertainment has also boarded the project to handle its international sales.
“It’s so rare to find a script like Levin Menekse’s The Process that is gripping, emotionally resonant, and feels essential in this moment,” Miele said in a statement. “I’m thrilled to get to bring this gem to life and to collaborate with Halle Berry, who brings such raw, real presence to the screen as an actress and is also an incredibly thoughtful collaborator and savvy producer.”
Besides The Process, Berry has a few projects currently lined up for her including the sci-fi adventure film The Mothership and Netflix’s action thriller Our Union with Mark Wahlberg. Earlier this year, it was also revealed that Berry will be starring alongside Angelina Jolie in an upcoming action thriller titled Maude v Maude.
