Protagonist Pictures (via Deadline) unveiled the first look for This Time Next Year, an upcoming romantic comedy based on Sophie Cousens’ New York Times best-selling novel of the same name.
Starring Sophie Cookson (The Huntsman: Winter’s War) and Lucien Laviscount (Emily in Paris), the forthcoming feature is directed by Wild Child’s filmmaker Nick Moore, who has served as an editor for various hit rom-coms including Notting Hill and Love Actually.
What Is This Time Next Year About?
The film will center on the two complete strangers, Quinn (Laviscount) and Minnie (Cookson), who share not only the same birthday — which is on New Year’s Day — but the same birth year and birth place: a hospital in London.
“Flung together at a New Year’s Eve party, Minnie and Quinn quickly realize they share a connection — they were born on New Year’s Day of the same year, in the same London hospital, one minute apart,” the synopsis reads. “Minnie grew up convinced that this mysterious Quinn — born first — stole the name her mother planned for her, and with it all her luck, setting her on a path of misfortune. Horrified at the misunderstanding, Quinn is set on making amends. But is it Quinn or is it fate that is scheming to bring the two together?”
