Ryan Reynolds’ Hilarious Response to Actors Strike Halloween Rules

Ryan Reynolds took to social media on Thursday to jokingly respond to SAG-AFTRA‘s guidelines on members who may want to dress up and celebrate Halloween this year.

In a recent tweet, Reynolds replied to a Variety story detailing SAG-AFTRA’s request that, should members want to dress up, they do so from non-struck content. Reynolds joked that he looks forward to calling his 8-year-old a “scab” all night in an effort to teach her what’s going on.

What are SAG-AFTRA’s Halloween guidelines?

With Halloween right around the corner, SAG-AFTRA recently updated its guidelines on their official site. In a new post on celebrating Halloween, the union encouraged members to “choose costumes inspired by generalized characters and figures (ghost, zombie, spider, etc.),” and also suggests that people “don’t post photos of costumes inspired by struck content to social media.”

Recently, talks between the union and the AMPTP broke down last week and were suspended. According to reports on the matter, talks broke down after the AMPTP declined SAG-AFTRA’s proposals to share 2% of streaming revenue. Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos acknowledged the reports by noting that the move was a “bridge too far” for the union.

While Sarandos said that the AMPTP had offered the union “a first-of-its-kind success-based residual” plan for subscription-based productions, it doesn’t seem like SAG-AFTRA believed the deal to be good enough. As a result, talks between SAG-AFTRA and the AMPTP have stalled and don’t seem to be ready to continue anytime soon.
