In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Oscar nominee Greta Gerwig shared what she did during the opening weekend of Warner Bros.’ live-action Barbie. The acclaimed filmmaker revealed that she hid at the back of different theaters in New York City in order to see the audiences’ immediate reaction to the Margot Robbie-led movie.
“I went around to different theaters and sort of stood in the back, and would then also turn up the volume if I felt it wasn’t playing at the perfect level,” Gerwig recalled. She also went on to describe the audiences’ overwhelming response to Barbie as “incredibly moving.” She continued, “It’s like this incredible sense of ‘the song that it’s in my heart is in other people’s hearts,'”
