Prior to the beginning of the WGA strike, legendary director Martin Scorsese says that he was working on a film with the help of Todd Field and Kent Jones.
What did Martin Scorsese say?
Speaking to GQ in a recent profile on the director, it was mentioned that Scorsese has a couple of films in development, including an adaptation of Marilynne Robinson’s novel Home. According to the report, Scorsese was working on the project with Todd Field, the director of Tár, as well as Kent Jones.
The topic of the film came up as Scorsese discussed how much longer he can continue making original films that “say something” at scale. Other films were said to be in development, but nothing else was mentioned beyond the Home adaptation.
Not too much is known about the movie, but Scorsese did jokingly note that he’ll continue to make movies “until they pick me up off the floor.” With the WGA strike now tentatively over, it’s likely we’ll hear more about the planned film in the future.
Up next for Scorsese is the highly anticipated Killers of the Flower Moon. That film stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, Lily Gladstone, Jesse Plemons, Tantoo Cardinal, John Lithgow, Brendan Fraser, Cara Jade Myers, JaNae Collins, Jillian Dion, William Belleau, Louis Cancelmi, Tatanka Means, Michael Abbott Jr., Pat Healy, Scott Shepherd, Jason Isbell, and Sturgill Simpson.
Killers of the Flower Moon is set to release on October 20, 2023.
