Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions announced that Retribution will hit PVOD and Premium EST (PEST) on September 15, 2023.
Directed by Nimród Antal (Predators, Armored), Retribution was released in United States theaters on August 25, 2023. It grossed approximately $20 million at the worldwide box office off of a budget of $12.7 million.
What is Liam Neeson’s Retribution about?
“In this ticking-clock thriller of redemption and revenge, Matt Turner (Liam Neeson) begins a high-speed chase across Berlin to complete a specific series of tasks after a mysterious caller puts a bomb under his car seat,” the official synopsis reads. “With Matt’s kids trapped in the back seat and a bomb that will explode if they get out of the car, a normal commute becomes a twisted game of life or death as Matt follows the stranger’s increasingly dangerous instructions in a race against time to save his family.”
Along with Neeson (Taken, Batman Begins), Retribution stars Norma Dumezweni (The Little Mermaid, Mary Poppins Returns), Lilly Aspell (Wonder Woman 1984, Extinction), Jack Champion (Avatar: The Way of Water, Avengers: Endgame), Embeth Davidtz (Army of Darkness, Europa Report), and Matthew Modine (Full Metal Jacket, The Dark Knight Rises).
Retribution is a remake of a Spanish film titled El desconocido, which was directed by Dani de la Torre and premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2015. El desconocido was previously remade into a 2018 German film directed by Christian Alvart titled Don’t. Get. Out!
The screenplay for Retribution was written by Chris Salmanpour. Andrew Rona, Alex Heineman, Jaume Collet-Serra, and Juan Sola all serve as producers.
Retribution hits PVOD and PEST on September 15, 2023, from Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions.
