Disney+ has announced the release date for its third installment to the Diary of a Wimpy Kid animated franchise titled Diary of a Wimpy Kid Christmas: Cabin Fever, based on the sixth book in Jeff Kinney’s popular children’s novel series of the same name. The holiday adventure movie will start streaming on December 8, exclusive on Disney+.
What to expect in Diary of a Wimpy Kid Christmas: Cabin Fever?
“The winter holidays are turning out to be especially stressful for Greg Heffley this year,” reads the synopsis. “After accidentally damaging a snowplow while making a snowman with best friend Rowley Jefferson, Greg worries he won’t get the new video game console he so desperately wants for Christmas. To make matters worse, he gets snowed in with his family, including his grumpy older brother Rodrick and annoying younger brother Manny.”
Described as a hilarious and heartfelt holiday tale, Diary of a Wimp Kid Christmas: Cabin Fever will tell a new story centering around everyone’s favorite disaster-prone middle school student. The film features the voices of Wesley Kimmel (The Mandalorian), Erica Cerra (Power Rangers), and Hunter Dillon (Deadpool 2).
The film is directed by Luke Cormican (Teen Titans Go!) from a screenplay written Kinney, who also serves as the producer. Before the upcoming movie, 20th Century Animation has already released two Diary of a Wimpy Kid animated movies on Disney+, including 2022’s Rodrick Rules.
