After nearly four decades since the theatrical debut of Back to the Future, Universal Pictures has partnered with Fathom Events for an upcoming special screening of the remastered version of Robert Zemeckis’ iconic sci-fi adventure from 1985.
In celebration of Back to the Future Day, the classic film is slated to return to theaters nationwide for one night only on October 21, which is the same day Marty McFly and Doc Brown famously landed in the year 2015 in Back to the Future Part II.
All screenings are scheduled for 7:30 pm local time. Tickets for the event are now available to purchase at fathomevents.com or at participating theater box offices.
What is Back to the Future about?
“When teenager Marty McFly is blasted to 1955 in the DeLorean time machine created by the eccentric Doc Brown, he finds himself mixed up in a time-shattering chain reaction that could vaporize his future-and leave him trapped in the past,” reads the synopsis. “Powered by innovative special effects, unforgettable songs and non-stop action, ‘Back To The Future’ is an unrivaled adventure that stands the test of time.”
Back to the Future was written and directed by Zemeckis. It starred Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson, Crispin Glover, and Thomas F. Wilson. After its massive success at the box office with a current worldwide gross of $388 million, it was followed by two more installments, which were both equally well-received by audiences.
