Vanity Fair has released first-look images of Lee, starring Kate Winslet as the titular Lee Miller, an iconic wartime photographer during World War II. Lee will have its world premiere at TIFF 2023 on September 9, 2023.
The images showcase Winslet as Miller, a former fashion model who enlists as a photographer to capture WWII events for Vogue magazine. Marion Cotillard, who stars as French Vogue fashion editor Solange d’Ayen, and Andy Samberg, who plays wartime photographer David Scherman, are also featured in the photos.

Who is Involved in Lee?
Winslet stars as the titular character in Lee, alongside Cotillard’s d’Ayen and Samberg’s Scherman. Other featured cast members include Alexander Skarsgård as Roland Penrose, Andrea Riseborough as Audrey Withers, Noémie Merlant as Nusch Éluard, and Josh O’Connor as a young journalist.
“Former Vogue cover model Lee Miller travels to the front lines of World War II as a photojournalist and goes on a mission to expose the hidden truths of Nazi Germany,” the official synopsis reads. “But in the aftermath of betrayal, she comes to a reckoning about the truths of her own past.”
Lee is directed by Ellen Kuras in her feature film directorial debut. Kuras is a well-known cinematographer who worked with Winslet on Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Based on the book The Lives of Lee Miller by Antony Penrose, Lee’s screenplay is written by Liz Hannah, John Collee, and Marion Hume. Collee and Hume collaborated with Lem Dobbs on the story. Winslet produces Lee with Lauren Hantz, Troy Lum, Andrew Mason, Marie Savare, and Kate Solomon.
