Superman: Legacy Update: James Gunn Teases DCU Krypto

Superman: Legacy director James Gunn has seemingly confirmed that Krypto will appear in the DC Universe.

Gunn, who previously directed movies like the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy and The Suicide Squad, is writing and directing the next Superman movie. This DC superhero movie is set to star David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane.

On Bluesky, Gunn posted a photo of a dog named Nora wearing a Superman cape. The caption explains that the dog was “dressed up for the art department.” The cape makes the dog resemble the splitting image of Krypto from DC Comics.

Krypto recently appeared in the movie DC League of Super-Pets, where he was voiced by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

James Gunn has teased Krypto in the past

Gunn previously joked in an interview with The Toronto Sun that he would like to give Chris Pratt the role. “You could do motion capture on set and walk around on your hands and knees, but you can’t talk,” Gunn quipped. Pratt responded that he would play Krypto, but only if he were paid in crypto-currency.

Superman: Legacy flies into theaters on August 11, 2025.
