Vanity Fair has released first-look images of All of Us Strangers starring Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott. The upcoming romantic mystery film from Searchlight Pictures is slated to premiere at the 2023 New York Film Festival this fall before releasing in theaters on December 22, 2023.
The images tease the relationship between Mescal’s Harry and Scott’s Adam. When describing Mescal and Scott, director Andrew Haigh said, “There was chemistry between the two of them literally the second I saw them together.“ Haigh later called the duo “fearless” when describing their approach to sex scenes. The images also showcase Claire Foy and Jamie Bell as Adam’s parents.
What to Expect in All of Us Strangers?
“One night in his empty tower block in contemporary London, Adam (Scott) has a chance encounter with his neighbor Harry (Mescal) that punctures the rhythms of his everyday life,” the official synopsis reads. “As Adam and Harry get closer, Adam is pulled back to his childhood home where it appears his long-dead parents (Claire Foy and Jamie Bell) are both living and look the same age as the day they died 30 years before.”
Haigh (45 Years) wrote and directed All of Us Strangers, based on Taichi Yamada’s 1987 novel Strangers. Producers include Graham Broadbent, Pete Czernin, and Sarah Harvey. The novel was first adapted by Nobuhiko Obayashi for the 1988 Japanese film The Discarnates.
