Actor Robert Swan, who has appeared in films like The Untouchables and Hoosiers, died this week at the age of 78.
His death was confirmed by a family friend (via Variety). Swan’s more notable roles in acting came in classic films like the 1987 Brian De Palma-directed The Untouchables, which saw Swan appear as a Mountie captain.
Swan would also appear in the 1994 film Natural Born Killers, as well as The Dollmaker and the 1986 sports classic Hoosiers. Other credits for the actor include The Twilight Zone, Stingray, The Owner, and All My Children.
Outside of his career in Hollywood, Swan was also an avid lover of theater, and acted in a number of plays in Chicago. He was nominated for a Joseph Jefferson Award for Best Actor in 1975 for his role in The Lesson and would go on to receive another Joseph Jefferson Award nomination for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his time in the 1977 production of Knock Knock and again for his part in 1980’s Buried Child.
Swan was the founder of the Michigan-based Harbor Country Opera, an opera house that continues to operate to this day.
ComingSoon sends condolences to Swan’s family and friends at this time.
