Netflix has revealed the full Rebel Moon character details for the main cast of Zack Snyder’s upcoming action sci-fi film, which will be led by Atomic Blonde’s Sofia Boutella. The film will be available for streaming on December 22.
Who are the Characters of Rebel Moon?
In addition to Boutella, the main cast also includes Ed Skrein, Charlie Hunnam, Michiel Huisman, Djimon Hounsou, Staz Nair, Doona Bae, Ray Fisher, and newcomer E. Duffy, with Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins. Listed below are their official character descriptions:
Skrein’s Admiral Atticus Noble is the film’s main antagonist – a nefarious Imperium enforcer, who is described as “the harshest type of military savageness.” Skrein added, “You see a ruthless, cold man who has chosen horror over morality for the directness of it. In a world where morality is waning, he has cast morality aside in the name of ambition.”
- Boutella is set to portray the role of Kora – an Imperium deserter who leaves the peaceful Veldt to fight back.
- Hunnam’s Kai – is a mercenary pilot whose Tawau-Class freighter will prove invaluable to Kora’s quest.
- Huisman’s Gunnar – is a Veldt farmer who knows little of the galaxy outside of his small, quiet corner of the galaxy.
- Hounsou’s General – a hardened gladiator who once served the Imperium.
- Nair’s Tarak – a noble indentured servant who shares a bond with a flying creature called a Bennu.
- Bae’s Nemesis – is a cyborg sword master whose mechanical hands allow her to wield molten-metal weapons.
- Fisher’s Darrian Bloodaxe – an insurgent who has been harrying the Imperium with guerilla attacks
- Duffy’s Milius – a refugee who seeks justice for their home — a colony that has already fallen to the Mother World.
- Hopkins as the voice of Jimmy – an ancient robot knight that once defended a slain king but has now faded into a more peaceful existence.
“A peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy is threatened by the armies of a tyrannical regent named Balisarius,” reads the film’s synopsis. “The desperate civilians dispatch Kora, a young woman who has a mysterious past, to seek out warriors from nearby planets to help them challenge the regent.”
Described as a fantasy epic, Rebel Moon is being directed by Snyder from a screenplay he is co-writing with Shay Hatten and Kurt Johnstad, based on a story by Snyder and Johnstad. It is produced by Deborah Snyder, Wesley Coller, and Zack Snyder for The Stone Quarry along with Grand Electric’s Eric Newman. Sarah Bowen is executive producing for Grand Electric.
