There are plans for more Mission: Impossible movies after Dead Reckoning Parts 1 and 2.
The seventh installment of the Mission: Impossible series arrives in theatres in July. This will be the first part of the two-part Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning, with Part 2 coming in 2024. While many movie franchises tend to end with two-part finales, such as Harry Potter and Spider-Verse, franchise director Christopher McQuarrie has stated the contrary.
McQuarrie told Fandango that Dead Reckoning Parts 1 and 2 would not be the end of the series. He said they already have ideas for what will come next.
Variety once reported that the two-parter would be a send-off for Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt. This means that although the Mission: Impossible franchise won’t be going anywhere, it is possible that Dead Reckoning will send off Ethan, with the following movies featuring a new lead.
When does the next Mission: Impossible movie come out?
The Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One release date is July 12, 2023.
“Ethan Hunt and his IMF team embark on their most dangerous mission yet: to track down a terrifying new weapon that threatens humanity before it falls into the wrong hands,” reads the official synopsis. “With control of the future and the fate of the world at stake, and dark forces from Ethan’s past closing in, a deadly race around the globe begins. Confronted by a mysterious, all-powerful enemy, Ethan is forced to consider that nothing can matter more than his mission – not even the lives of those he cares about most.”
