Four new contestants have entered the ring for New Line’s Mortal Kombat 2.
Deadline brings word that bodybuilder-turned-actor Martyn Ford (F9) and Mindhunter’s Damon Herriman have been tapped for the respective roles of Outworld emperor Shao Kahn and Netherrealm demon Quan Chi. Desmond Chiam (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) and Ana Thu Nguyen (Get Free) have also been cast as Edenian King Jerrod and Queen Sindel.
Who’s the Cast of Mortal Kombat 2?
Mortal Kombat 2 will once again be directed by Simon McQuoid from a screenplay written by Moon Knight head writer Jeremy Slater. The sequel will feature the return of Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Josh Lawson as Kano, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Mehcad Brooks as Jax, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Joe Taslim as Bi-Han and Sub-Zero, Hiroyuki Sanada as Hanzo Hasashi and Scorpion, and Max Huang as Kung Lao.
In addition to the four new cast members, the action sequel will also introduced The Boys star Karl Urban as Johnny Cage, Adeline Rudolph (Resident Evil) as Kitana, and Tati Gabrielle (You) as Jade. The latter two previously worked together in Netflix’s Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, in which they played each other’s adoptive sisters.
Further details about the next installment’s plot are still being kept under wraps. It is produced by James Wan, Michael Clear, Todd Garner, and E. Bennet Walsh.
