According to Deadline, Oscar nominee Bradley Cooper has partnered with Searchlight Pictures for his next directorial project.
It comes in the form of the upcoming movie titled Is This Thing On?, which is currently in the early stages of development. In addition to directing, Cooper has also signed on to star in the project alongside long-time friend Will Arnett, who co-wrote the first draft of the screenplay with Mark Chappell.
Further details about the plot and characters are still being kept under wraps. The outlet notes that Cooper might also be involved in the writing process of the final draft once the ongoing WGA strike ends. Is This Thing On? will be produced by Cooper for Lea Pictures, Arnett, and Kris Thykier, with John Bishop executive producing.
Bradley Cooper and Will Arnett’s Upcoming Projects
Cooper recently reprised his role as Rocket in Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. It’s unclear if he’s still planning to lend his voice to the fan-favorite character in future Marvel Cinematic Universe projects.
Before directing Is This Thing On?, the actor-filmmaker is currently busy working on the post-production of his upcoming biographical drama for Netflix titled Maestro, which will see him star as award-winning composer and conductor Leonard Bernstein. This serves as his follow-up to 2018’s A Star Is Born remake, which was his feature directorial debut.
As for Arnett, the Emmy nominee will next be seen in Taika Waititi’s sports dramedy Next Goal Wins, which centers around an American Samoa football team. He will also be lending his voice in Peacock’s upcoming series adaptation of the Twisted Metal video game.
