Live-Action Lilo & Stitch Cast Adds Stitch Actor, Reveals Zach Galifianakis’ Role

The likely voice of Stitch in the live-action Lilo & Stitch remake has been revealed, while a few previously announced actors have had their roles confirmed.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, original Lilo & Stitch director and Stitch voice Chris Sanders is in final talks to reprise his role as the iconic blue alien experiment. The outlet is also reporting that Zach Galifianakis, who was reported to be in the movie back in February, will be playing Stitch’s scientist creator Jumba.

Similarly, it was revealed that recent cast addition Billy Magnussen will be playing the slender one-eyed alien Pleakley in the live-action Lilo & Stitch remake. The original voice of Nani, Tia Carrere, will be portraying a new character named Mrs. Kekoa, while actress Amy Hill, who played Mrs. Hasagawa in the animated movie and series, will play a new character named Tūtū.

“Lilo is a lonely Hawaiian girl who adopts a small ugly ‘dog,’ whom she names Stitch,” reads the original animated film’s synopsis. “Stitch would be the perfect pet if he weren’t in reality a genetic experiment who has escaped from an alien planet and crash-landed on Earth. Through her love, faith, and unwavering belief in ohana, the Hawaiian concept of family, Lilo helps unlock Stitch’s heart and gives him the ability to care for someone else.”

Originally released in 2002, Lilo & Stitch is Disney’s 42nd animated feature. It featured the voices of Daveigh Chase, Chris Sanders, Tia Carrere, David Ogden Stiers, Kevin McDonald, Ving Rhames, Kevin Michael Richardson, and Jason Scott Lee. The film was both a box office and critical success, with a worldwide gross of over $270 million. It also earned an Oscar nomination for Best Animated Feature.
