Not too much is known about James Gunn’s upcoming Superman: Legacy, but according to a recent report from Heroic Hollywood, the start date for production has been revealed.
According to the latest report, production on the film isn’t expected to begin until sometime in January 2024, with filming set to take place in Atlanta, Georgia. With the superhero movie currently in the “early stages” of pre-production according to Gunn, this would make sense and would keep the film on track for it’s currently planned 2025 release date.
Currently, not too much is known about the film, with fans still anxious to find out who will play the new version of Superman in the DC Universe. While Gunn has shot down various rumors on social media, most things about the DCU movie are unknown, but he did note that, as of last month, casting hadn’t yet begun.
“Superman: Legacy tells the story of Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas,” reads the movie’s official synopsis. “He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.”
The DC Universe’s first phase, called Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, will feature a multitude of different movies and television shows. A few of the announced projects include Superman: Legacy, a Batman and Robin-focused movie called The Brave and the Bold, a Supergirl movie titled Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, a Swamp Thing film, and multiple TV shows.
