Russell Crowe appeared in the 2022 film Thor: Love and Thunder as Zeus, the most powerful of the Greek Gods. Although it’s unclear whether or not we’ll see a Zeus MCU return, the actor seems confident he will.
Speaking during an appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Crowe was asked about a Zeus MCU return. In the film’s post-credits scene, Zeus is seen commanding his son, Hercules (played by Brett Goldstein) to hunt down Thor after the God of Thunder stole Zeus’ iconic lightning bolt. Because of this, Crowe said, he’s pretty certain he’ll return, but hasn’t heard anything yet.
“Well, nobody’s brought anything up with me, but, I mean, it seems like that’s the idea at the end of the last one, right?” Crowe said of the potential Zeus MCU return. “But, I don’t really know. Yeah, look, if you’re a young actor and you get the opportunity to be on a set with Taika Waititi, take it. It’s a lot of fun, he’s a creative genius, but he’s also just a lovely bloke.”
Although Thor: Love and Thunder was highly divisive amongst fans, the film still was a box office success. Though a fourth Thor movie isn’t confirmed, Zeus and Hercules are likely to return in some form in future Marvel Studios projects.
