Resident Evil: Death Island was previously confirmed for summer 2023, but Sony Pictures Home Entertainment had not been more specific. Its latest trailer not only shows more footage of the animated film, but also its July 7 release date. However, that is only currently its Japanese release date.
A wider release date was not given. It’s still slated for summer elsewhere, so the North American date probably isn’t that far off.
This trailer is also the longest one so far. It gives viewers a look at Chris Redfield, Claire Redfield, Leon Kennedy, Jill Valentine, and Rebecca Chambers as they travel to Alcatraz Island to combat a new twist on an old threat.
Assassin Classroom: Graduation director Eiichirō Hasumi directed the film, while Psycho-Pass writer Makoto Fukami and penned the script. Death Island is also a sequel to Resident Evil: Vendetta, the widely panned 2017 film.
