Deadpool star Morena Baccarin has provided an update about whether her character, Vanessa, will be appearing in Marvel Studios‘ Deadpool 3. On the Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum podcast, Baccarin spoke a bit about potentially appearing in the upcoming Deadpool sequel.
“Yeah, what is up with Deadpool 3? That’s a really good question,” Baccarin stated (via Deadline). “I have to be very diplomatic about what I say here. I’d like to be in it. They have called me about being in it. Right now, we have not agreed on terms, and everybody’s trying their best, and doing their best. But it may or may not work out. I don’t know.”
When host and actor Michael Rosenbaum said that Baccarin’s Vanessa was “an integral part” of the series, the actress noted that Marvel Studios may be trying to reinvent the Deadpool series a bit in this new installment.
“I’d like to think so. I do think that this movie, since the acquirement of this Deadpool universe by Marvel/Disney, that merger that happened, I do feel like they’re trying to reinvent it a little bit,” she explained. “I think this movie is going to be much more about Wolverine and Deadpool.”
Deadpool 3 is being written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick from a previous draft by Bob’s Burgers duo Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige previously assured fans that it will remain an R-rated film — just like the first two movies, which would make it the studio’s first movie with said mature rating.
It will serve as the first movie in the Deadpool film series to be released following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox. The film is currently scheduled to release on November 8, 2024.
