Ke Huy Quan’s career saw a revival in 2022 thanks to his starring role in the hit film Everything Everywhere All at Once. Shortly after that movie released, though, Quan reveals he was called up and offered a role in another huge universe.
Speaking to Josh Horowitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Quan reveals that after Everything Everywhere All at Once came out, President of Marvel Studios Kevin Feige called him up and invited him to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
“When our movie came out, the first phone call I got was from Kevin Feige, who graciously asked me if I wanted to join the MCU,” said Quan. “And I called Jonathan and the gang, and I said, ‘You know what, nobody wants to hire me except Stephen Spielberg, George Lucas, The Daniels, and Kevin Feige.’ It’s been incredible. 2022 is the year I will always remember because it’s one of the happiest years of my life.”
Quan obviously took Feige up on the offer, as the actor is now set to star in the second season of the Disney+ series Loki in an unknown role. Later in the interview, Quan also revealed that Loki star Tom Hiddleston “geeked out” about getting to work with him.
“There was one particular day of shooting, and [Tom] found something on set,” said Quan. “He saw it and he said, ‘Oh my gosh, I cannot believe I am working with Short Round from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and he was so cute and so kind, and I was so excited and I said, ‘Oh my god, did anybody get that on tape! Please tell me somebody got that on tape!’ He was incredible. We laughed so hard, and I didn’t want that shoot to end.”
While it’s unknown what the future holds for Quan in terms of acting roles, his performance in Everything Everywhere All at Once is earning him massive praise in the present. Just this past weekend, Quan won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture and is likely on track to being nominated for an Academy Award for his role, as well.
