Star Wars star Diego Luna has discussed how Cassian Andor will continue to transform throughout the upcoming Andor Season 2.
Luna mentioned that Andor still has a lot to learn before he can become who he is in Rogue One, particularly in regards to teamwork.
“[I] think what happens also after prison and in the next episodes is that he understands really what he’s fighting against,” Luna explained to Collider. “He understands the need [for] a revolution because he understands what oppression means basically and how little freedom he has and how unfair the world he lives in is. But there’s still so much for him to learn in terms of working as a team.”
Luna reiterated how important Cassian’s role is in Rogue One and how the four years that Season 2 of Andor will cover will show his transformation into the agent that the Rebellion trusts so deeply.
“The responsibility he takes on at the beginning of Rogue One is huge,” Luna stated. “Imagine what has to happen for someone to say he’s the right person to do it. Cassian Andor is going to be the person we’re going to trust with this. There’s a lot for him to discover and a big transformation to come. He’s really far from that. The one of episode 12, it’s so far from that, but the spark is there. There’s an awakening and it has happened. Now we need to witness four years of the life of this man.”
Disney+’s Andor features Diego Luna as he reprises his role of Cassian Andor. The first season is set five years before the events of Rogue One and follows the adventures of the titular hero rebel spy during the formative years of the Rebellion. It explores tales of espionage and daring missions to restore hope to a galaxy in the grip of a ruthless Empire.
