A much-appreciated drama movie is hitting HBO Max this week.
On Monday, November 21, the streaming service will add Ben Is Back to its available content. The drama directed and written by Oscar nominee Peter Hedges (About a Boy, What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, Dan in Real Life) stars Oscar winner Julia Roberts (Erin Brockovich, August: Osage County) and Oscar nominee Lucas Hedges (Manchester by the Sea). Additionally, Courtney B. Vance (The People V. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story) and Kathryn Newton (Lady Bird).
“19-year-old Ben Burns (Hedges) unexpectedly returns home to his family’s suburban home on Christmas Eve morning. Ben’s mother, Holly (Roberts), is relieved and welcoming but wary of her son staying clean. Over a turbulent 24 hours, new truths are revealed, and a mother’s undying love for her son is tested as she does everything in her power to keep him safe.”
Color Force and Black Bear Pictures produced the movie alongside 30WEST.
