Following the casting of Mad Men alum Kiernan Shipka, Deadline brings word that Charlie’s Angels star Lucy Liu has signed on to join Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans in Amazon Studios’ forthcoming action-comedy holiday film Red One. This marks Liu’s latest action project ahead of the upcoming 2023 theatrical release of Shazam! Fury of the Gods.

Besides the Charlie’s Angels films, Liu is also best known for her iconic performance in Kill Bill: Volume 1 and for lending her voice in the Kung Fu Panda film franchise. Her next project will be Walt Disney Animation Studios’ upcoming adventure animated film “Strange World,” where she voices Callisto Mal.
Red One will be directed and produced by Jake Kasdan, who will reunite with Johnson after working together on the blockbuster Jumanji films. It is also written by Fast and Furious‘ Chris Morgan, based on a story conceived by Hiram Garcia.
Further details about its plot and characters are still being kept under wraps, but it is described as a globe-trotting, four-quadrant action-adventure comedy that imagines a whole new universe to explore within the holiday genre.
