Ever since its release, the Star Wars prequel film Rogue One has been rumored by fans to feature an alternate ending. However, actor Diego Luna has closed the door on any such thought.

In a new video for Vanity Fair detailing his career in acting, Luna touches on Rogue One and specifically notes that from when he joined the project, there was only ever one ending in mind.
“So this is basically the reason why I was so happy to play this role and so excited about the idea of being part of this universe because I thought it was so bold, so interesting, and so unique to have an ending like this,” said Luna. “And I remember people say we shot different endings and, just to be clear, the day I was offered this role, I knew this was it.”
Luna went on to say that there were never plans to do more films, but instead just to tell this one story and focus on the group of rebels who helped continue the overall dream of the rebellion.
“It was one film and I knew what the end was going to be,” Luna said. “And it’s one of the things that excited me the most, you know, that Star Wars was going to do that, was going to show what sacrifice means, and was going to go for it.”

Despite being fine committing to just one film, Luna did say that he was excited to return to the character of Cassian Andor and explore the backstory of how someone grows to be ready to fight for an entire galaxy.
“It made sense,” Luna said on returning for Andor. “For me, Rogue One is a film that is pretty much about an event, but you don’t get to know where these characters come from, why they do what they do. What takes someone to be, to feel ready to sacrifice everything for a cost, you know?”
