A day after announcing the release date for Deadpool 3 and the fact that Hugh Jackman would be joining the film as Wolverine, fans were treated to a mysterious new video from Reynolds and Jackman.
In the video, Reynolds and Jackman jokingly describe how the film will go before music cuts in and completely drowns out their voices. However, Jomboy Media — known best for their breakdowns of sports clips that often require lip reading — has taken to the case and attempted to break down what’s being said in the clip.
Unfortunately for fans who were hoping for some juicy news, though, nothing too special seems to have been said, with Reynolds talking about how Deadpool finds Wolverine and chases him around before the two descend into pantomiming fighting one another.
Jomboy Media is a channel mostly known for sports clips, as James Vincent Michael O’Brien, the commentator in the video, often goes through various baseball clips and picks apart what the umpire or coaches are screaming at each other on the field. Since they often too far to be picked up by the microphones on the field, he usually uses his lip-reading skills to give viewers a decent read of what they are likely saying, a talent he has applied to this non-sports video.
Deadpool 3 is being written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick from a previous draft by Bob’s Burgers duo Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige previously assured fans that it will remain an R-rated film — just like the first two movies, which would make it the studio’s first movie with the said mature rating.
It will serve as the first movie in the Deadpool film series that will be released following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox.
The first two Deadpool films are both box-office successes, as they earned a combined worldwide gross of over $1.5 billion. They were both written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, with the first one directed by Tim Miller and Deadpool 2 directed by David Leitch.
